REFLECTION
Experience
This module has been quite insightful as I learned the fundamentals of packaging design. The experience of working with potential, and a real client on the other side was quite pressuring but it was an experience I am grateful for. Despite the challenges I faced, I learned some things from this module.
Observations
I've observed that packaging dielines are really important especially when doing packaging. If we design with the wrong dielines, it can completely mess up the final printing outcome. When designing my own packaging, I often look around at the packaging designs in my surroundings, making sure what kind of design choices were made by the designers, choice of images, typeface, color, and information written. Research really is key when creating.
Findings
Through this module, I learned the importance of information and hierarchy in packaging design. As designers, we are not only here to make things pretty but to also ensure the packaging we are designing properly conveys the necessary information. For example, the nutrition label and ingredients should always be written and shown clearly, along with the expiry date and other important information regarding the product. It is important for us to put ourselves in the consumers' shoes when designing packaging, especially if we want to design attractive and effective packaging.
