INSTRUCTIONS

Exercise 1: Text Formatting

In this first exercise, we were given a quick recap on InDesign and were tasked to format our content for our story book in a basic document format.

Exercise 2: Mock-up Making

For this next exercise, we followed the provided tutorial video and created a basic mock-up for our book later on. The requirements are bigger than A5 but smaller than A4, and we have to experiment with 3 more sizes.

I ended up with 176mm x 250mm size.

Exercise 3: Signature Folding System

According to the tutorial video from Mr. Vinod, we were showed the signature folding system of a book and were told to create a small example of it. I used an A4 sheet.

Exercise 6: Form & Movement

Since I was absent for class on this day, I decided to follow the tutorial video for this exercise. I created a no color, colored, image, then added text versions. I took the image from Pinterest and compiled all the pages in one

REFLECTION

The exercises were quite fun! I liked the firsthand experience of learning too and I felt like I learned quite a lot about book printing and binding through the paper exercises. It was also a nice start to get to know the feel of how my book for Task 3 will turn out to be. Working with InDesign is quite smooth and I like layout the most, thus I enjoyed the last exercise the most as I could experiment freely while learning about the flow and how to properly transition in pages. Overall, these exercises were quite simple yet informative and it taught me the basics of publishing and printing that will definitely help me in the future tasks.
