EXERCISES
Project 2A: Production Shoot
Week 6
For this project, we were grouped into teams and to shoot some clips based on the videos given by Mr. Martin. My role in this specific task was the actress (Evelyn), and also camera assistant.

We met up in class and took some time to work together, brainstorm and shoot all the videos, all compiled in this Google Drive. Then, I edited the clips together to form a rough cut for color grading tutorial next week.
Week 7
In class, Mr. Martin showed us how to do basic color correction and also color grading, which he encouraged us to try on our production shoot. Below are the required color grading combinations for this project:

After rearranging the clips to form a somewhat cohesive story trailer, I started to do the different color corrections for all the different clips.

After all the necessary color corrections and grading, I found some trailer music on YouTube and used it as the background music. I edited some blank spaces to add a dramatic effect, added some text, and also a flicker effect by adding an Adjustment Layer and adding 'Strobe Lights' for the overall dramatic movie trailer atmosphere. I also added punching sound effects to match one of the fighting clips.

Project 2B: TikTok/Insta
For this project, we were required to create a TikTok/Instagram reel of any topic of our choice, however it must be creative and include some form of editing. The software we were required to use is CapCut.
First, I filled in the proposal in the Google Slides:

After brainstorming the lighting and storyboard, I filmed all my clips using my phone and a tripod. Since my TikTok idea was my indoor creative hobbies, I had the comfort of filming in my own room. I did several takes of the clips as I was filming alone and it was quite challenging to get the exact shot I wanted.

After shooting the video clips, I brought it to CapCut on my phone and arranged the clips together, aligning it with the audio and the beats. The audio I used was from this TikTok: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSY9VNEv9/.
I added the video clips as "Overlays" so that the 3 clips could appear on screen at the same time. I also did the same thing for the notification parts.

For the bed clone shot, I filmed one video but changed positions 3 times while keeping the camera in the same place. This way I could trim the clips accordingly, then mask myself out in each clip and put the 2 as an "Overlay" to achieve the clone effect. The masking isn't perfect as this was CapCut and I didn't have CapCut Pro to get the advanced masking features.

In the outfit part, for an easier shooting process I filmed the cut the clips in one singular video. Then, I cut the clips accordingly in CapCut to make it a more seamless transition.

Finally, I added the color grading by using the "Oppenheimer" filter at 80% for the shots at the beginning since I wanted the cinematic feel in the beginning.

I did my own color adjustments for the rest of the TikTok since I couldn't find a filter that I liked.

REFLECTION
Project 2A: Production Shoot
This project is very insightful for me as this was the first time I got a hands-on experience of how it would be like to be in a production set. This project wouldn't have been successful if it weren't for my group and our collective teamwork and collaboration, it was a rocky start at first but we warmed up to each other and were able to equally contribute to the shooting process. It was a great way to exercise my collaborative and communicative skills amongst a group. It was quite a challenge to capture the correct camera angles at first, but we slowly got the hang of it. I also had quite a blast playing one of the characters. I'm overall grateful for this opportunity.
Project 2B: TikTok/Insta
This project gave me a challenge I haven't faced before; filming myself alone. Shooting the clips by myself was quite the hassle since I shot with the back camera for a higher quality, but this meant I couldn't see myself. I had to frame the shots first, get in front of a camera and get into position, then check my phone again to see if I was in frame. Good thing I chose to film at home. Nonetheless, I quite enjoyed the process of brainstorming ideas and executing them in real life, editing was quite breezy as well and I would say I'm quite satisfied with the final product.
