TUTORIAL
Mr. Fauzi provided a YouTube tutorial on how to create a looping animation of After Effects, which will be discussed further next week.

PRACTICAL
Our next project is the Conceptual Product Photoshoot. In this project, we are tasked to photograph 2 items, then Photoshop to combine the two objects and create a feel of surrealism.

Project 2B: Conceptual Product Photoshoot

Research
First, I researched some inspiration to get some ideas.

Sketch
Then, I started brainstorming and sketching some ideas I have. I want to use two objects with a similar shape, this way I am able to mash the two objects together so that it looks smoother. This way the final result will hopefully be more cohesive and well thought-out.

I found 3 pairs of objects:

1. Key & Airpod - use the bottom part of the key as the lower part of the airpod

2. Glue stick & Lipstick - I want to make the tip of the lipstick sticking out of the glue

3. Sponge & Popsicle - the sponge on a popsicle stick

4.Dumpling & Ice cream cone - the dumpling sitting on top of the cone, like an ice cream

I decided on Sketch #2 since I really liked how the shapes of the two objects blend together.

Photograph
I took the picture of both objects in the sunlight next to the window, using white sheets of paper as a make-shift backdrop.

Process in Photoshop
Afterwards, I placed the two photos in Photoshop and started to mask each object with the Quick Selection Tool.

Then I brought the lipstick layer on top and used the brush tool in the layer mask of it to mask out the bottom part of the lipstick. I also adjusted the sizes to make sure it fits perfectly.

After that, I added the shadows using a gray color in the Brush Tool and setting a Gaussian Blur.

I adjusted the curves of the glue stick to make it a bit brighter so the colors match. Alongside, I adjusted the color balance of the lipstick to make it a bit more pink in color

Finally, I added the light gray solid to the background to finish the piece.
